Abstract
Ibn Battota's journey to the wetern Sudan is a clear and accurate picture of
Sudanese society in the Middle ages. It provided an accurate description of
the life of the people of the region and its most important economic
resources. The information provided was a testimony to the life of African
society, Islam in it, and its civilizatianal continuity with the Islamic Maghreb.
