Spatial Patterns and Location Efficiency of Industrial Facilities in Misurata City

Abstract

The study aims to determine the patterns of geographical distribution and the locational efficiency of industries in the city of Misurata, by identifying the nature of the spatial distribution of industry in the city and the factors that had an impact on the creation of this distribution, and identifying the types of existing industries in the city and the most important problems they face, in addition to studying the locational efficiency. For these industries, the study used the descriptive approach to show the characteristics of the industry in the city of Misurata, describe its nature and trends, and explain the current situation of the industry in the study area. The analytical or inductive approach was also used to compare data and information. (0.77), which indicates that the city has an industrial diversity due to the presence of different types of industries. The study also concluded that there is a concentration of some industries, where the textile and leather industries, the foodstuffs and beverages industry, and the metal industries are concentrated in the city of Misurata, as it recorded a site quotient of (1.4). And (1.5) and (2.2), respectively. As for the arrangement and size of the industry, the metal products industry occupied the largest locational percentage in the city of Misurata, which is (2.2). This is due to the factors of expanding the size of the market for these commodities as a result of the increasing regional demand for this type of industry in the city of Misurata, in addition to the factors of urbanization.
