Abstract

Engaging in Sharia sciences is one of the most virtuous acts of obedience, through which one distinguishes the lawful from the unlawful and learns the rulings of God's law in jurisprudential matters, both old and new. Previous scholars devoted great attention to the Sharia sciences, and among the noble scholars whom God granted a portion of these sciences and attention to them was Sheikh Abdul Ghani bin Ismail Al-Nabulsi Al-Hanafi (d. 1143 AH). He authored many works in various fields, especially on contemporary jurisprudential issues and particulars that people need. Among the collection of his treatises he left us is a treatise addressing the ruling on garments and similar items dyed with something impure, along with related jurisprudential rulings according to the Hanafi school. He titled this treatise: "Al-Ghaith Al-Munbajis fi Hukm Al-Masboogh bil-Najs" (The Pouring Rain on the Ruling of the Impure Dyed). In it, he cited many references from sources concerned with the specific Sharia rulings related to this issue in the Hanafi school, and he summarized the topic in a way that obviates the need for many lengthy books.
