The study sought to show the general trend of the size of the Libyan family in the municipality of Misurata and study the spatial variation of the size of the family between its municipal branches and identify the factors affecting this variation, through a field study in which questionnaire forms were distributed randomly to a sample of families in the study area by 383 families based on the data of the number of families obtained from the Civil Status Authority, Central Region Branch, and the data was analyzed statistically through the SPSS program and by several statistical methods that the study reached a number of results from The most important of which is the variation in the size of the family in the municipality of Misrata, where the general average was 6.9 individuals, a clear increase from what it was during the national survey in 2012, which amounted to 5.41 individuals, with the size of the Libyan family spatially varying between the municipal branches, where the municipal branch Qasr Ahmed recorded the highest average family size of 8.4, and the municipal branch of Tamina has the lowest average family size of 5.5, One of the main reasons for the variation in family size between municipal branches is due to a basic factor represented in the length of the marriage period, as the results of the field study did not show an impact of other factors, whether social, demographic or economic, which was confirmed by the results of the correlation coefficient for each of them, whether in general for the study area or between its municipal branches.
