The role of early intervention in developing the skills of autistic children from the point of view of specialists in the centers in the city of Misrata

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the role of early
intervention in developing the skills of a child with autism, and the research
sample consisted of (67) specialists, who were selected from special education
centers in the city of Misurata, which provide services for autistic children
aged between (3-7) years. They are (Noor Al-Ghad Center 1 and 2,
Distinguished Child Center, Candles of Hope Center), and the researchers used
the descriptive approach, and the research tool included identifying the role of
early intervention in developing the skills of a child with autism, distributed on
the following skills: independence - social communication - social skills, and
the results of the research showed that Early intervention plays a major role in
developing the independence skills of a child with autism, from the point of
view of the study sample; Where the value of the general arithmetic mean of
the sample opinions was (2.27), with relative importance (75.7%), With a
standard deviation of (0.46184), early intervention has a significant and helpful
role in developing the communication skills of a child with autism, from the
point of view of the study sample; Where the value of the general arithmetic
mean of the sample opinions was (2.27), with relative importance (75.7%), and
with a standard deviation of (0.46184), and that early intervention had a
significant role in developing the social skills of a child with autism, from the
point of view of specialists in the study sample; Where the value of the general
arithmetic mean of the sample opinions was (2.23), with relative importance
(74.3%), and with a standard deviation of (0.51448). According to the
specialists’ point of view, the role of early intervention in the aspect of
independence and social communication has an important impact on the development of the child’s condition, and in light of the results, the researchers presented a set of educational recommendations for institutions and special
education centers concerned with autistic children and their families with the
aim of developing children’s daily life skills.
