Abstract

Computer-assisted learning (CAL) has become an important tool in the modern educational process at various levels and systems in most countries around the world. It provides contributions to achieving efficient and effective learning by simplifying and organizing the study material and presenting it to the learner in an interesting and attractive way. To overcome the problems facing higher education students locally، such as the difficulty of practical courses، the scarcity of electronic laboratories and modern educational tools، and the reliance on traditional methods of delivering information، as well as the students notes about their low comprehension and achievement levels. This study aimed to contribute to solving these problems by shifting from traditional to modern methods of learning، using computer applications and programs in practical applications and observation of experiments and their resulting development of practical skills for students in the fields of information technology and communication. Data was collected through a questionnaire prepared for this purpose، and both the experimental and survey methods were used on the target sample of (17) male and female students. Results from the pre-test and post-test on the use of computer assisted learning as an educational tool for the sample showed that there were statistically significant differences in the average grades of the students between the traditional method pre-test، where the mean was (68.9412)، and the computer-assisted learning post-test، where the mean was (86.5882). This indicates the superiority of using computer-assisted learning as an educational tool over the traditional method، which positively affected the motivation، comprehension، and achievement levels of the sample. The study recommended several points، including urging faculty members to use modern educational tools such as computers in teaching and preparing intensive training courses in producing and using computer-based educational tools for faculty members in higher education institutions
