Expression by metonymy in Libyan popular literature - a semantic study selected models

Abstract

Popular expression with metaphors is an aspect of linguistic expression in Libya, and it is a set of customs, traditions, and behavioral and social patterns that distinguish the Libyan people from other peoples, in expressions with simple spontaneous words that clarify what is in the psyche, and its role is no less than the role of popular proverbs. This study aims to know the difference between the popular linguistic expression by metonymy and the popular proverb and to stand on the semantic meaning of the popular expressions by the metonymy subject of the research
