Cyberbullying and its impact on academic achievement among a sample of students from the College of Education, Misurata University

The research aimed to identify cyberbullying and its
impact on academic achievement among a sample of students from the
College of Education, Misrata University. The sample consisted of (85) male
and female students from the College of Education, and the descriptive
approach was used. The research tool was represented by a ready-made
questionnaire that was applied by the researcher. “Ahmed Ziadeh” in 2019 on
the Jordanian environment, and among the most important results reached: -
The level of cyberbullying was low, with a relative weight (%36.6).
- Academic achievement among male and female students of the College of
Education - Misrata University is affected to a moderate degree by
cyberbullying, with a relative weight of (52%).
- There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance
(0.05) between the averages of the research sample regarding the level of
cyberbullying, and the level of students’ academic achievement affected by
cyberbullying among students due to the gender variable, and in favor of
males.
- There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level
(0.05) between the averages of the research sample regarding the level of
cyberbullying among students due to the specialization variable (literary,
scientific).
- There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05)
between the averages of the research sample regarding the level of influence
of students’ academic achievement by cyberbullying due to the specialization
variable (literary, scientific), and in favor of students in the scientific
specialization.
-There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance
(0.05) between the averages of the research sample regarding the level of
cyberbullying, and the level of students’ academic achievement affected by
cyberbullying attributable to the semester variable (less than the fourth
semester, the fourth semester and above). -There is a negative impact of electronic bullying on the academic
achievement of students in the College of Education at the University of
Misrata.
-The research recommends the need to educate students in the College of
Education and other colleges about strategies to confront cyberbullying
through programs and workshops.
