Abstract

The research presents a study of the grammatical lesson (Al-Dars Al-Nahwi) in the book (Illuminating the Path to the Sciences of Revelation) [Inārat Al-Sabīl ilā ‘Ulūm Al-Tanzīl] by Sheikh Ahmed Al-Za'louk. The researcher tracks Sheikh Al-Za'louk's methodology in presenting grammatical subjects, reviewing various grammar issues such as: Standardized rules, parsing (I‘rāb) issues, its multiplicity of facets, the parsing of sentences, grammatical evidence (Istishhād Nahwī), the justification of Qur'anic readings (Tawjīh Al-Qirā’āt), grammatical terminology, the meanings of particles (Ma‘ānī Al-Hurūf), and other different grammatical phenomena.

The research reached key findings, most notably: that the methodology followed by Sheikh Al-Za'louk in his book (Inārat Al-Sabīl) is clear, where the Sheikh adopted simplification and approximation (Al-Taysīr wa Al-Taqrīb) because the book is originally a collection of lectures. The Sheikh selected the famous grammatical opinions in his lessons and only addressed the strong disagreements. The research highlighted the status and rules of grammar in the interpretation of Qur'anic verses. The parsing applications presented by the Sheikh in his book demonstrated his academic standing, and the study showed that the lessons presented by the Sheikh vary between linguistic, morphological (Sarfī), grammatical (Nahwī), semantic (Dalālī), and rhetorical (Balāghī) issues, with the study focusing primarily on the grammatical issues.
