Abstract

<> The current research paper deals with the Ottoman Turkish Sultan Muhammad the Conqueror (30 March 1432 – 3 May 1481) and his conquest of Constantinople. The paper introduces the Sulatan's life, concentrating on his childhood stage, heroic deeds and great conquests. The atmosphere where the sultan was raised up created inside himself an unequaled leading personality that displayed itself in his courage and intelligence as well as in his administrative and military competence, in addition to his grasp of more than one language beside his mother Turkish one. As for the conquest of Constantinople , Muhammad the Conqueror succeeded in storming the city after many unsuccessful attempts to take it that had taken place both in the times of the Umayyads and the Abbasids. Constantinople occupied a distinguished geographical location; by conquering it, Muhammad the Conqueror achieved a tremendous victory for Islam, one which demonstrated his extraordinary abilities and extreme enthusiasm for jihad and brought about honour and dignity for the Muslims among all other people in the world.
