Abstract

<> This study aims at identifying the relationship between academic freedom and organizational commitment of teaching staff at the Faculty of Education, Misurata. This relationship is clarified according to gender, experience and scientific degree. In order to achieve the goals of this study, the researchers used the correlational descriptive method. A questionnaire has been distributed to 47 teaching staff members at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University. The findings of the study can be summarised as follows: 1. There is a positive relationship at the rate of (0.5) between academic freedom and organizational commitment of teaching staff at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University. 2. The average of academic freedom for the teaching staff at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University is medium. 3. The average of organizational commitment for the teaching staff at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University is high. 4. There is no significant statistical value at the (0.5) level between academic freedom and organizational commitment of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University in terms of gender, scientific degree or experience
