Abstract

Narrative is an open universe that accommodates all forms of imagination. Within it, all literary and cultural elements—both oral and written—merge and intertwine. It is multi-sourced, nourished by personal, local, and human heritage. While realistic stories portray reality either directly or indirectly—where narrative imagination and artistic characterization play a significant role in addressing real-life issues related to the individual, society, and existence without exceeding the bounds of plausibility— the fantastic tale transcends these limits into the realms of the unreal, the illogical, and the irrational. This is achieved through techniques of the marvelous, the strange, and the astonishing. Its creator relies on illusion and suggestion, drawing upon elements of myth, legend, folktales, popular beliefs, and everything connected to the collective memory of the imagined world.
