To what extent the educational and psychological has the skills of counseling

Abstract

The study aims to identify the extent to what extent the psychological and educational counselor who are graduated from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Education from the Psychology and Education department and Psychology department possess the necessary counseling skills when dealing with the students. The researchers used the descriptive analytical approach in Misurata for the academic year 2021. There are 500 male and female counselors for the basic and intermediate education, the sample consists of 99 of counselors which make 20% from the total number. The researchers adopted the questionnaire as a tool for this study. The questionnaire includes "3" areas ( psychological support skill, empathy skill, crisis handling and the skill of building hope or the counselor). The results show no statistically significant differences in the counseling skills of counselors due to different of the graduation institute ( Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education). While there are statistically significant differences due to the variable specialization for skills of dealing with crises and building hope). In the light of the results of the study, the two researchers developed a number of recommendations and suggestions for psychological and educational counselors. They emphasize the need to provide distinguished trainers through the establishment of a department for psychological and educational counseling at the University of Misurata
