Plagiarism Prevention Policy

In its commitment to academic integrity and adherence to publishing ethics, the Journal of the Faculty of Arts and Media – University of Misurata adopts a strict policy against plagiarism and academic misconduct, as follows:

  • Definition of Plagiarism: The journal defines plagiarism as the use of any scholarly work, ideas, paragraphs, sentences, illustrations, figures, designs, raw data, or any work by other authors—either directly or indirectly—without proper citation of the original source.
  • Author Responsibility: Authors are required to adhere to research ethics and affirm their compliance upon submission of the initial manuscript.
  • Initial Screening: All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial review by the editorial board to ensure compliance with the journal’s publication guidelines. Manuscripts are then subjected to plagiarism detection using Turnitin software.
  • Action on Detection: If plagiarism is detected, the author is immediately notified, and a detailed report specifying the plagiarized content and its percentage is issued. The manuscript is automatically rejected, and the author is barred from publishing in the journal. The author’s affiliated institution is also informed of the violation.
  • Acceptable Similarity Threshold: For a manuscript to be accepted, the total similarity index must not exceed 20%.
