Submission Guidelines

The journal emphasizes adherence to academic integrity and ethical research standards, including disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest and acknowledgment of any financial or institutional support. Authors must also disclose any use of AI tools at any stage of the research or writing process.

Authors are required to submit their original research papers without any infringement of copyright or publishing rights, and in full compliance with the journal’s official submission template. They bear full responsibility for any legal claims related to copyright or intellectual property that may be raised by any party against the journal. Authors are solely responsible for all resulting legal consequences, and the journal holds no liability in this regard.

The names of the contributing authors must be listed based on their level of contribution, with the most contributing author listed first, followed by the others in descending order.

If the research is funded by any entity, this must be clearly stated within the manuscript.

The journal accepts manuscripts that has not been previously published and has not been submitted simultaneously to another journal. Submission implies that the manuscript is original and unpublished.

Authors must adhere to research and publication ethics. In cases where academic fraud or plagiarism is detected before or after publication, the act will be treated as scientific misconduct. The journal reserves the right to reject or withdraw the article, prohibit the author(s) from future submissions, and notify national and international scholarly bodies and journal editorial boards of the violation.

Manuscripts must adhere to rigorous academic standards, demonstrate originality and innovation, and contribute new knowledge to their field. Manuscripts must be linguistically accurate and free of errors. Authors are responsible for ensuring language quality prior to submission. All submissions undergo similarity checking according to the journal’s similarity and citation policy, and manuscripts exceeding the allowable similarity threshold (60%) will not be accepted.

The manuscript must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s OJS system in Word format, using the official journal template available on the “Templates” page. A signed Publication Request Form must be uploaded with the submission, signed manually or electronically by all authors. Compliance with the template is a prerequisite for passing the initial screening stage.

Formatting Rules

  • The manuscript must be clearly formatted and free of linguistic errors.
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12
  • The total length of the manuscript must not exceed 10 (A4) pages, including the main text, references, tables, figures, and appendices.
  • Page margins must be 2.54 cm for up and down, and 3.18 cm on each side.
  • Tables and figures must be placed in their appropriate locations within the text and must include clear titles and explanatory notes (font size 10).

Table: Type table double spaced, provide a table number and title for each. Provide a footnote to each table identifying all abbreviations used. Do not embed tables as graphic file, document object or pictures.

Figures: Type double space. Provide a figure number and title for each. Identify at the end of each figure in alphabetical order all abbreviations in the figure described.

For Microphotography, indicate the stain used and use an internal scale marker.

For graphic, diagram, line drawing … etc, the artwork should be done professionally. Labelling should allow for legibility following reduction to column width.

The size of tables, figures and illustrations should not exceed 1/3 of the whole manuscript size and 50% of each page.

The writing with the figures should be written in font size 12.

 

Language

Manuscripts are accepted in English language only.

 

Manuscript Structure

Title: Should appear on the first page and must not exceed 15 words, followed by the author’s names and affiliation.

Abstract:  Provide an abstract from 150 up to 250 words for researches and review articles. The abstract should be organized with background, purpose(s) of the study, basic procedure(s), results and conclusions. Clinical review article, abstracts should summarize the contents of review articles.

Key words: Include a list of up to 7 key words or short phrases.

Introduction

Supplies the reader a complete information about the topic.

Methods and Procedures:

Includes methodology, population and sample, instruments, and procedures. Ethical committee approval is to be mentioned.

Results: Present the findings clearly and without repetition.

Discussion: Analyze and interpret the results in light of previous research.

Conclusions and Recommendations: Summarize the findings and present recommendations.

Conflict of Interest Statement: Must be included within the submitted manuscript and must clearly state whether any conflicts of interest exist for any of the authors.

References:

The references should be written in Vancouver Referencing Style, updated and limited to essential. They are numbered consecutively in order of citation and typed double spaced. List all authors if there are six or less; otherwise list only the first three, followed by 'et al'.

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review in accordance with established academic standards. Authors will be notified of the review decision after completing the necessary evaluations. The editorial board may request additional revisions prior to making the final acceptance decision.

Authors must fully comply with the journal’s template guidelines concerning text, headings, and paragraphs. Text components of the manuscripts should be prepared with Microsoft Word in Times New Roman 12-point size with double line-space on one side of A4 (297 x 210 mm) sheets with all pages numbered.

 

 

Original article:

Maximum length: 3000 words (excluding the title, abstract, figures, tables and references).
Title: The title should be explicit, descriptive, clear and brief. The title should be followed by a list all authors’ full names, affiliations, and name and address of the corresponding author, including, telephone number, and e-mail address.

Abstract: should be structured, clear, concise and precise summary of the study. Not more than 250 words to include a background, methods, results and conclusion. The abstract should be followed by five significant and relevant keywords.

Introduction: This section should provide a comprehensive overview of the topic, elucidates the rationale behind conducting the study, and highlights the gap in existing knowledge. It should also identifies the research question, hypothesis, and objective. References must be cited in sequential order.

Materials and methods: This section should provide information on the place and population of the study. It should also clearly explain the sample size calculation, inclusion and exclusion criteria as well as the techniques and statistical methods used.

Results: This section should be presented in a clear and concise format, avoiding
repetition of tables and illustrations. Patient privacy must be maintained, thus personal information such as names or identification numbers should not be included. Tables and figures: Up to three tables and three figures are acceptable and may be expanded upon request. The tables must include legends and footnotes. Tables and figures size should not exceed half of the page. This is applied for each subtitle.

Discussion: This section involves comparing the obtained results to other studies and relevant literature, highlighting unique aspects of the study and placing findings in the context of existing evidence. Repetition of statistics or material from other sections of the study must be avoided.
Conclusion: this section provides a brief summary of the overall findings of the study. References: all references should be enlisted in consecutive numerical order according to their appearance in the manuscript. In-text reference numbers should be enclosed by brackets, as indicated at the end of this sentence (1).

The number of references allowed for citation in original articles is limited to 70.

The citation format to be used is the Vanocur style:

Journal titles must be abbreviated in compliance with the Index Medicus style guide.
The author is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness and the proper citation
of the reference.

Manuscripts containing improperly formatted citations will be sent back to the author for
correction.

 

Review Articles:

Review articles are generally invited manuscripts from academic researchers with significant expertise in their respective subject fields in addition to individual researchers. A review article is a comprehensive and impartial analysis of current trends in a particular subject, based on a thorough literature review. It is not an original article. A review article comprises of a succinct abstract and a comprehensive main body supplied with appropriate illustrations and a conclusion. The abstract should be limited to 500 words, whereas the main body can extend up to 5000 words, with a maximum number of 100 references, 20 figures, and 5 tables.

 

Short Communication:

The aim of Short Communications is to expeditiously disseminate concise findings obtained from one's original work. The abstract should be limited to 100 words, while the main body can be up to 1500 words, with a maximum number of 20 references, 2 figures, and 2 tables.

Case report:

Cases that are novel, unique and challenging with clinical significance or implications can be reported. Such cases should provide valuable learning opportunity for the readers.
Priority will be given to cases with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges. The title should be followed by the words “case report”. The abstract should be limited to 100
words, while the communication could have be up to 1000 words, with a maximum number of 10 references, 2 figures, and 2 tables.

 

Expert Opinion:

This reflects the expertise view in the medical field practicing or teaching, based on scientific bases. This aims to help the others or share the others opinion.

 

A letter to the editor:

A letter to the editor should be concise and provide conclusive remarks and criticism regarding an article published recently in the MMSJ. The letters are not subject to peer review. Publication or rejection of the letter is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. No abstract, up to 500 words for text, a limit of 2 figures and 2 references, and two authors maximum.
