Copyright Policy

The copyright policy of the Journal of Legal Research, Faculty of Law, Misurata University, sets out the conditions related to the intellectual property rights of published research. This policy aims to strike a balance between protecting the rights of authors on the one hand, and ensuring the widest possible dissemination of their research and scholarly output on the other.

Submitting a paper for publication in the Journal of Legal Research implies the author’s (or authors’, if multiple) agreement to the copyright conditions outlined below:

  • Authors’ Rights: Authors retain the full intellectual property rights to their works. However, by granting the journal the right of first publication, authors agree to license their work under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0): This license allows others to distribute, adapt, and build upon your work—even for commercial purposes—provided that they properly attribute the original work to you and indicate any changes made. Full license details are available on the Creative Commons website: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/.

  • Right of First Publication: By granting the journal the right of first publication, the journal has the right to publish the work for the first time, either electronically or in print.

  • Readers’ Rights: Under the Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0), readers enjoy broad rights to access, use, and share published articles without restriction, provided that the original work is properly attributed.

  • Self-Archiving and Republishing: After publication in the journal, authors have the right to republish their articles elsewhere (such as on personal websites or institutional repositories) or include them in other works, provided that clear reference is made to the first publication in the Journal of Legal Research with a link to the published article.

  • Responsibility for Research Content: The author(s) bear full responsibility for the content of the published research, including the accuracy of information and opinions expressed therein, and for ensuring that it does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

This copyright policy seeks to support the principles of open access and to promote the wide regional and international exchange of scientific knowledge, while safeguarding authors’ rights and recognizing their scholarly contributions.
