Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) and anise (Pimpinella anisum) essential oils used traditionally in folk medicine in Libya for its antimicrobial activity. Oil extract from Clove and anise were isolated and analysed using thin layer chromatography, infrared spectrum and UV-spectrum. The antibacterial activity of oil extracts were determined against candida albicans, the present study revealed that the percentage yield of anise seed and clove oil were 2.5 – 3.0% and 1.5-2 % respectively. Essential oils of clove and anise seed shown promising anticadida activity in vitro, and the organic compounds present in clove and anise seed oils could be an potent barrier against candida albicans and also could be used for the advancement in developing different drugs.
